This Privacy Policy explains how AudioMusik (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you use our website https://www.audiomusik.app and our iOS / iPadOS music apps and Audio Unit extensions, including Chipmate, Backline, Cardmate, and any other apps we publish under the AudioMusik name (together, the “Apps”).
If you have questions, contact us at support@audiomusik.app.
1. Summary
Our Apps are designed to process audio and MIDI on your device. We do not sell personal data. Our Apps do not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs that track you across apps or websites.
2. Information we collect
A. Mobile Apps (Chipmate, Backline, Cardmate, and related AUv3 plugins)
In normal use, the Apps:
- Process audio and MIDI locally on your device (standalone app and/or inside hosts such as AUM, Cubasis, GarageBand, and similar).
- May store preferences and user content on the device only (for example volume, tempo, selected patterns/cards, MIDI routing preferences, custom rhythm cards). This data stays on your device unless you choose to back it up through Apple (e.g. iCloud Backup) or share it yourself.
- Do not require an AudioMusik account.
- Do not collect your name, email, location, contacts, photos, or microphone recordings for our servers.
- Do not use tracking technologies such as IDFA for advertising.
We do not operate a backend that receives your musical performances, MIDI streams, or project files from the Apps.
Microphone / audio input: If an App or host needs audio input (for example as an effect), that audio is processed on-device for music purposes. We do not upload that audio to AudioMusik servers.
Crash and diagnostics: If you enable sharing with Apple (e.g. Analytics / Improve App Analytics in iOS Settings, or TestFlight feedback), Apple may receive diagnostic data under Apple’s privacy terms. That data goes to Apple, not to a separate AudioMusik analytics service we control.
B. Website (audiomusik.app)
Depending on how you use the site, we may receive:
- Contact or support emails you send us (including your email address and message content).
- Newsletter subscription details if you subscribe (typically your email address), processed only to send the newsletter and related AudioMusik updates until you unsubscribe.
- Standard server / hosting logs (e.g. IP address, browser type, pages visited, date/time), which our hosting provider may generate for security, reliability, and abuse prevention.
- Cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to work (for example login/session cookies if you use the WordPress admin area). We do not use the website to run cross-site advertising profiles.
If you leave a comment on the site (if comments are enabled), we may store the information you submit in the form, plus technical data used for spam protection (such as IP address and browser user agent), in line with how WordPress operates.
3. How we use information
We use information only to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the website and Apps
- Respond to support requests
- Send newsletters you opted into
- Protect against abuse and secure our systems
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell personal data or share it with data brokers.
4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Contract / service provision — to provide the Apps and respond to support
- Consent — for newsletters and optional cookies (where required)
- Legitimate interests — site security, spam prevention, basic hosting logs
- Legal obligation — when the law requires us to keep or disclose information
5. Sharing of information
We may share limited information with:
- Service providers that host our website or email (acting on our instructions)
- Apple — for App Store distribution, purchases, TestFlight, and system diagnostics you enable with Apple
- Authorities — only if required by law
Third-party DAW / host apps (AUM, Cubasis, etc.) are independent products with their own privacy policies. When you load our AUv3 inside a host, that host may process audio/MIDI according to its own terms; that is outside AudioMusik’s control.
6. Payments
If you buy an App or in-app purchase through the App Store, Apple processes the payment. We do not receive your full payment card details. Apple may share limited non-sensitive purchase/account information with us as the developer under Apple’s rules.
7. Data retention
- On-device App settings / custom content: until you delete the App, clear its data, or remove those items in the App.
- Support emails: as long as needed to handle your request and for reasonable follow-up / legal records.
- Newsletter emails: until you unsubscribe or we shut down the list.
- Website logs: for a limited period as kept by our hosting provider for security and operations.
8. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or export personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. You may also withdraw newsletter consent at any time.
To exercise these rights, email support@audiomusik.app. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
9. Children
The Apps and website are not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. International transfers
Our website hosting or email providers may process data in the EU, UK, US, or other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards offered by those providers.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the website or Apps after an update means you accept the revised policy.
